CLE ELUM, Wash. – A tragic Cle Elum car accident on State Route 10 Wednesday evening has left two people dead and three injured. The crash, which is under investigation by Washington State Troopers, highlights the devastating consequences of negligence on the road.
The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when a Chevy Tahoe, driven by 63-year-old Wayne Free of Cle Elum, drifted off the road, hit an embankment, and caught fire. Three other passengers sustained injuries and were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Jackie Knowlton, 58, of Brewster, is listed in serious condition.
