Tragic Collision in Oak Harbor: Woman Dead, Dog Injured, Driver Arrested

A devastating head-on collision in Oak Harbor resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to her dog. The accident occurred on June 5, when a pickup truck collided with the woman’s vehicle on East Crescent Road near Western Drive.

Incident Details

Emergency responders, including Oak Harbor Police, Island County Sheriff’s Office, and fire personnel, arrived at the scene. The woman was found trapped in her vehicle and, despite life-saving efforts, was pronounced dead at Whidbey Health Medical Center. Her dog, injured in the collision, is expected to recover after undergoing surgery at an emergency veterinary clinic.

Driver Apprehended

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot but was apprehended the following day. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation and have requested that any witnesses come forward to provide additional information.
