Wenatchee Woman Charged Following Injurious 2-Vehicle Collision on SR 97
A two-vehicle collision in Kittitas County has left four individuals injured and resulted in charges for a Wenatchee woman. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash occurred shortly before 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, approximately 20 miles north of Cle Elum city limits on State Route 97.
Details of the Incident
The WSP reports that 52-year-old Susan Stueck, of Wenatchee, was driving northbound when she crossed the center line into the southbound lane. Her vehicle collided with one driven by 34-year-old Binit Banerjee, of Seattle. Stueck sustained injuries and was treated at Kittitas Valley Healthcare. Banerjee and two passengers also suffered injuries, with 58-year-old Mohua Banerjee requiring hospitalization at Confluence Health Hospital.
The collision was not caused by drugs or alcohol; however, the WSP has charged Stueck with distracted driving and improper lane usage.
The Legal Implications of Negligence
While the cause of the accident was not influenced by substance use, the charges of distracted driving and improper lane usage highlight potential negligence. Drivers have a legal duty to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly to avoid causing harm to others. When this duty is breached, it can result in severe injuries, property damage, and emotional distress for those affected.
Victims of negligence in car accidents may face medical bills, lost wages, and ongoing pain and suffering. In cases like this, pursuing a negligence claim can provide compensation to cover these losses and help victims regain stability.
